(VOVworld)- Carnival Halong 2012 will take place in the center of Ha Long city, the Bai Chay tourist site, Tuan Chau Island and neighboring areas this Thusday. This year Carnival is considered the biggest Carnival as it takes place on the occasion Halong receives the title of new seven wonders of Nature.

Le Tien Tho, Chairman of the Vietnam Stage Artists' Association, executive director of the program, said the carnival has attracted the largest number of participants ever with more than 3000 people, including professional artists and amateur artists, ethnic people, and representatives from nearby regions. Directed by People’s Artist Le Tien Tho, this year’s carnival on the theme, ‘Quang Ninh – Convergence and Diffusion’, will include art performances, masquerade parties, street art and a parade aiming to present a more complete picture of Quang Ninh’s diverse ethnic groups and tourism potential. Artist Tho said: We have prepared since the early of this month. We have practiced in ten days in the hot weather of early summer. Beside the main actives, we also have many activities in different provinces and cities. We focus on the culture of Vietnam in general and particular the unique culture of Halong such as sea culture.

Mr. Ha Quang Long, director of the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the event has attracted famous artists of Vietnam and many foreign art troupes including China, Laos and South Korea. Mr Long said: "Carnival Halong 2012 is the great combination between traditional and modern, between the unique culture of Quang Ninh people and the diversity of the international art troupes to create colorful Carnival. This Carnival also shows the integration and development of Quang Ninh province in the coming time."

The Carnival Ha Long 2012 will take place on the evening of May 1. The same day, representatives of the New7wonders organization will present the title World Natural Wonder to Ha Long Bay.
