Ceremony marks UNESCO Resolution honoring President Ho Chi Minh
(VOVWORLD) -A ceremony was held in Hanoi on Friday to mark 30 years of a UNESCO Resolution, which honors Vietnam’s President Ho Chi Minh. The ceremony was co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and the UNESCO Office in Hanoi.

The Resolution, adopted by the 24th General Conference of UNESCO in 1987, recommended that members celebrate the 100th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, a hero of national liberation and an outstanding cultural figure, so that people worldwide would understand his contribution to the struggles for national independence. The international celebration contributed to UNESCO’s goal of spreading knowledge worldwide.

Speaking at the event at President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh said the Resolution showed the world’s acknowledgement of Vietnamese values of which President Ho Chi Minh is a symbol. Delegates also attended a seminar on President Ho Chi Minh and an exhibition on his life and career.
