(VOVWORLD) -The Spring Calligraphy Festival opened by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism near Literature Lake in Hanoi’s Temple of Literature on Friday.
60 calligraphers write either Chinese or Vietnamese scripts on poonah paper with a hope of good luck, good health, and prosperity for those in attendance. There is an exhibition of 35 calligraphic works and other traditional craft activities including pottery, paper making, embroidery, wood carving, and bronze casting.
Dak Nong province has organized traditional ethnic programs which culminate in the Lunar New Year Festival 2018. Vu Thi Ai Duyen, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said: “We have completed preparations for the event, including decoration, communications, issuance of regulations, establishment of jury boards, and sending invitations to other provinces. Through the festival, we want to educate the young generation to preserve the cultural beauty of our predecessors. The festival promises to serve people well during Tet celebrations.”
In Vinh Long province on Friday, nearly 200 school students took part in a competition of drawing pictures on paper fans to convey their dreams.
