Festival to honor honorary citizens of the Capital city

(VOVworld) – A Peaceful Culture Festival was held at Ly Thai To monument to mark the Capital city’s 60th liberation anniversary and 15th anniversary of the UNESCO’s recognition as “The City for peace”. The festival attracted around 2,000 participants including ambassadors, representatives of foreign organizations and foreign students in Hanoi.

Nguyen The Thao, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, addressed the event: “We would like to convey a message to international friends about Hanoi’s civilization, a peaceful Capital city, and hospitable Hanoians. Hanoi is advancing on the national development path. Vietnamese people will always support international peace which is a foundation for development and prosperity.

The Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee granted the title “The honorary Citizen of the Capital City” on 12 foreigners for their contribution to the Capital city in many sectors. Doctor Naoto Keicho, Director of a Vietnamese-Japanese cooperative program on Tuberculosis, is one of the honorees. "I'm honored to receive the title on the occasion of Hanoi's 60th liberation anniversary. It was a very important victory over the French. This title is not only for me but for all my collaborators in Hanoi, Vietnam, and Japan. I want to appreciate their efforts and contributions."
