(VOVworld) – Thua Thien Hue province’s People’s Committee announced the literature on Hue royal architecture part of UNESCO’s Memory of the World Program in the Asia-Pacific at a ceremony on Saturday.
It was honoured as documentary heritage at the Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific’s 7th General meeting in Hue city in May. According to experts, researchers and managers, the royal literature on Hue royal architecture is a special decorative art, a precious heritage and its diversity in content and materials only exists in Vietnam – like wood, stone, ceramic carving and the style of red-lacquer trimmed with gold.
Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Royal Hue Relic Preservation Center, said: “The literature on Hue royal architecture has been the 5th heritage of Hue recognized by UNESCO. This recognition acknowledges the efforts of the provincial People’s Committee, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and the Viet Nam National Commission for UNESCO. We are aware that the recognition is just the first step in building a strategic plan to best preserve and enhance this heritage.”
