Initial success of Traffic Safety Year 2012

(VOVworld)-Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has stressed the significance of the targets set for the traffic safety year 2012. Mr. Phuc, who also is Chairman of the National Committee for Traffic Safety was speaking at a meeting with the Hanoi People’s Committee today. "We are implementing the government’s important plan on ensuring order and safety on roads and pavements. Hanoi police have resolutely coordinated with district people’s committees to ban parking on more than 260 streets. We should put in place specific measures to enable people to abide by the traffic laws, especially uphold the traffic cultural lifestyle", said Deputy Prime Minister Phuc. This year, Hanoi aims to reduce traffic accidents by 10%, and traffic congestions by 20%. In the first two months of this year, the city saw initial success in improving traffic safety.
