International conference discusses peace’s role in protecting human rights
(VOVWORLD) -The Vietnam Peace Committee and the HCM National Academy of Public Administration co-organized an international conference on Thursday discussing the role of peace in promoting and protecting human rights.

The event marked World Peace Day, initiated by the UN in 1981. National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu said human rights have been an international issue and aspiration of mankind. In Vietnam, human rights are acknowledged in many legal documents including the Constitution.
He said the Vietnamese are living in peace and want to maintain a peaceful, stable environment for national development. Thus protecting peace and security is Vietnam’s top priority.
