Kicking off education initiatives for sustainable development

(VOVworld) – An education program has begun in Hanoi to engage develop education initiatives with sustainable development. The program, co-hosted by the Ministry of Education and Training and UNESCO, is intended to support Vietnam in shaping a more resilient and sustainably aware society by raising public awareness on climate change. It will develop a community action plan as a response to the challenges of climate change, natural disasters and biodiversity loss, while also raising awareness among schools principals and authorities at all levels. The program will guide the community and schools in developing plans for the reduction of disaster risk, by incorporating site management plans. Nguyen Vinh Hien, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, was speaking at the event: “The project presents a model for sustainable education development, and methods of implementation that will be coordinated with relevant authorities responsible for education development. Once the project is completed, the ministry will roll out the model out through the country.”
The program will be launched at five primary schools in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.
