Leaders open new school year
(VOVworld) – Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan attended the opening ceremony of the new school year on Wednesday in an ethnic boarding school in Hoa Binh province. She also presented scholarships to local disadvantaged pupils.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan beat the drum to open the new academic year in the Hanoi Medical University. Nhan said the university needs a long-term strategy until 2020 and appropriate annual plans so as to reform and enhance the quality of training.

Addressing Wednesday’s ceremony at the ethnic boarding school in Yen Bai province, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said education was Vietnam’s primary policy and that many incentives had been adopted to develop human resources in remote and mountainous areas. He urged local authorities to create the best conditions possible for children to attend schools in remote areas: “I call on Yen Bai education sector to focus on the strategy for educational development in the 2011-2020 period and successfully fulfill the task of educational reform in this academic year. I hope that this ethnic boarding school and other schools in Yen Bai will uphold the results and draw lessons to overcome difficulties and perform their tasks well”.
National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong attended the opening ceremony of the new school year in Hung Yen specialized school. Opening the new academic year in Ly Tu Trong school, National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu expressed his hope that the school would continue to follow Ho Chi Minh’s moral example and build a healthy educational environment for the younger generation.
