(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has hailed the importance of mechanical engineering in national industrialization and modernization.


Speaking at a sectoral review meeting on Friday, the Prime Minister urged the Ministry of Industry and Trade to facilitate the sector's more contribution to potential areas including agriculture, transport and healthcare. He said:“The Ministry should link its strategy with masters planning to better define priority industry, especially agricultural machinery and fisheries. The sector should have its mindset away from subsidies planning and focus more on competition in a market economy. Competition must start right here on the domestic market before exporting efforts.”

Vietnam’s national industrial value has reached more than 250 trillion dong, 7 times more than in the year 2000.
