Party and state: care for AO victims of great importance

(VOVworld) – The Party, state and the entire political system will do its best to improve the living conditions of Agent Orange dioxin victims and their families. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam stated this at the 3rd national congress of the Vietnam Association for  Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin or VAVA that opened Tuesday in Hanoi, adding that the association plays a very important role in this task.

Deputy Prime Minister Dam asked the association to reform its activities to improve its efficiency, to provide better care for AO dioxin victims and help them integrate into the community. The association is also urged to cooperate with related ministries and agencies, mobilizing all social means to care for the victims and help them fight for justice.
President Truong Tan Sang the same day worked with the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin. He urged the Association to continue its support for the victims in the new term. He also called for continued consultations to the party and state on policies to support the victims. The president said increased international cooperation would advance the call for justice for the victims. President Sang said that the association and its affiliates nationwide should continue to push for social donations to help ease the victims’ pains.  

At a ceremony celebrating its 10th founding anniversary in Hanoi on Monday, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan lauded the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin (VAVA) for its strenuous efforts in support of AO victims over the past 10 years.

Nhan asked VAVA to strengthen its activities and mobilize all social means to care for the victims in their lives and the fight for justice. He also called on Vietnamese at home and abroad and friends across the globe to stand side by side with the victims in the struggle for justice.
