Prime Minister urges media agencies to reform and innovate

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with the representatives of former leaders, leaders and reporters from Vietnamese media agencies in Hanoi on Tuesday to mark the 91st anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day.

He praised the development of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press and its contributions to the revolution. He asked media agencies to reform and innovate within the context of complicated regional and global situations, adding that their success in communications will contribute to protecting the Party and the regime as well as national construction and development.

He also called for the 2016 Press Law to be quickly made reality and the effective implementation of the Party Central Committee’s guideline on press planning.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh visited the Government Portal and the Great Unity newspaper on Tuesday to mark the event. Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission Pham Minh Chinh congratulated the Voice of Vietnam’s leaders and staff during a visit the same day. He said he hopes VOV will continue contributing to building up the Party and political system and steering the public. He said: “Communications plays an important role in nation building and defense. I hope that VOV will continue to promote role models and good deeds and prevent political, ideological, and moral degradation as well as self-transformation and self-evolution.”

A commemorative meeting was also held in Ho Chi Minh city by the municipal Journalists’ Association.
