(VOVworld) – A blood donation program called “Red Sunday” was held in Hanoi on Sunday by the Tien Phong newspaper, the National Traffic Safety Committee, and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hailed the voluntary blood donation campaign over the last 21 years and said it should be further expanded: “Ministries particularly the Ministry of Health should boost the humanitarian blood donation campaign by increasing communication activities. Individuals and organizations should join this Red Sunday program to contribute to public health.”

1.1 million blood units were collected in 2015, meeting 60% of treatment needs.
