Rural pilot programme reviewed

The average income of people in 11 communes participating in a rural pilot programme has increased by 62 percent. The figure was released at Friday’s conference in Hanoi to review 3 year implementation of the programme, which was attended by State President Truong Tan Sang, head of the programme’s steering committee. Since the programme was launched in 2009, the 11 involved communes have got a facelift. In addition to improving people’s living conditions, it has upgraded infrastructure, promoted cultural preservation and socio-economic development, as well as increased people's intellectual standard. However, there remain problems even while implementing the programme, such as incomplete infrastructure,  unspecified planning and lack of mechanism to uphold people’s mastery.
