Scientific seminar on Japan-ASEAN economies

(VOV) – Vietnam and other Asian researchers and businessmen gathered in Hanoi on Tuesday in Hanoi to discuss about Japan and ASEAN economies.

Participants exchanged research about the characteristics and experience of economic development of Japan as well as other Asian countries to reflect Vietnam’s strategies of diversification, multilatarization and integration into the world economy. Professor Harada Yutaka from Waseda University, Japan presented a report on the future of Japanese economy which focuses on the impact of credit policies to the stagnancy of Japanese economy but then overcome by economic policy. Meanwhile, Professor Tran Van Tho from Waseda university mentioned the multi layers in industrialization process in Asia led by Japan, followed by South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, China and Vietnam. Those countries lagging behind may catch up with or surpass the predecessors which makes the East Asia the world’s major industrial center. Professor Tho added that Vietnam needs to catch new opportunities from Japan and raise the competitiveness of its industry before free trade agreements are completely implemented.
