(VOVworld) – A seminar took place in Hanoi yesterday to study ways to protect exports from US anti-dumping measures. The US is among those markets which hold down risks with a wide range of barriers, particularly anti-dumping measures. Economists say a variety of conventional products including garments and textiles, wood and handicraft products, and new products including chemicals, mechanical, and plastic products are likely to appear in the dumping list. One of the effective ways for exporters to protect their legitimate interests is to bring disputed cases to the US Courts or the WTO dispute settlement system.

US attorney William Barringer, who has successfully advised many Vietnamese enterprises in anti-dumping cases in the US, has some vital recommendations for Vietnamese exporters bringing cases to the US Court or to the WTO. Barringer says documents must be well prepared with sufficient legal basis and concrete arguments for legislative investigations. If they want to involve the Government, they must provide the Government with case information and materials from the beginning and keep the Government informed as the lawsuit proceeds.

The seminar is organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
