Pham Trong Yen from General Department of Fisheries spoke at the opening session on Tuesday: Admission to the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission requires Vietnam to reinforce its legal framework, operation, and management mechanism of tuna fishing. Since 2010 the commission has provided assistance for Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia in capacity building so that Vietnam could win the association membership shortly.
