The 11-km highway, which cost 315 million USD, connects the northern Thang Long – Van Tri urban area to Highway 5. Dong Tru bridge crossing the Duong river is an important component of the extended Highway. Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said: “Hanoi’s planning takes the Red river as a center and the extended Highway 5 is a main traffic route to serve the development of industrial zones and urban areas on the northern part of the Red river. It’s part of the belt road No.2 to ease traffic congestion on the Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Hai Duong itinerary to Noi Bai international airport and western and northwestern provinces.”

Dong Thanh temple in Hang Vai street, Hoan Kiem ward has opened again after being upgraded. The 200-year old temple, which is dedicated to Saint Huyen Thien Tran Vu, has preserved several royal documents acknowledging the Saint’s merits in the early 19 century.
