“Spring on Spratly Islands” cultural program
(VOV) - A cultural exchange program dubbed “Spring on Truong Sa Islands” was held in Hanoi Saturday to show mainlanders’ love for the remote islanders and determination to defend national sovereignty. Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Uong Chu Luu conveyed Happy New Year messages to civilians and soldiers living on the Truong Sa or Spratly Islands: “The event is a meaningful, demonstrating the Party’s, State’s, and people’s love and trust in those stationed on the islands. We hope the program will reiterate the importance of seas and islands in the public’s awareness, especially in regards to national constructions and defense.”
The show featured films on the ceramic national flag and the daily life of soldiers who protect the nation’s peace and happiness. Audience also enjoyed famous artists’ moving songs and dances about the Spratly Islands and patriotism.
The organizing board also sent nearly 15,000 USD and other meaningful gifts to soldiers stationed on the Spratly Islands to celebrate a warmer New Year. The event was jointly organized by the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Education and Communication, the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC), and Vietnam Television (VTV).
