(VOVworld)- A conference on investment promotion and tourism development opened in Thua Thien Hue province on Monday.

500 representatives of Ministries, sectors, associations, and investors attended the event. Thua Thien-Hue province laid out its local tourist potential, its socio-economic development plan until 2020 and 30 projects calling for 70 trillion VND worth of investment in trade, tourism, processing, and infrastructure. Local leaders promised to create favorable conditions for investors. In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said that tourism should be the spearhead economic sector for the province: “It’s important to preserve the values of the ancient citadel heritage. This should be the primary task, not only for today but also for tomorrow. The preservation work needs to accompany the promotion of heritage value. The province should call for more investment in tourism, and focus on upgrading tourist infrastructure, protecting the environment, and promoting trademarks and tourist products”.
