The government considers 2012 as the pivotal year to establish traffic order and safety nationwide and tackle traffic congestion in the two major cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This message was delivered by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a ceremony held in Hanoi on Tuesday to launch the 2012 Traffic Safety Year. The Deputy PM said the government deems ensuring traffic safety an important political task for 2012: “I urged the National Traffic Safety Committee and relevant agencies to boost efforts to raise public awareness of the issue, severely punish violations, and closely supervise law enforcement agencies”.
