Millennium Development Goals |
The eight MDGs established in 2000, have guided each individual country in setting its own priorities for development. The deadline for completing the goals is years away, but countries have begun to define a development frame for the period after 2015. The UN is playing a leading role in this process, conducting consultations in more than 50 countries, including Vietnam. Vietnam has been chosen to pilot this consultation process after its success in achieving its MDGs and recently becoming a middle-income country. The consultations will give Vietnam an opportunity to review its achievements and have a voice in defining its new development goals.
