(VOVworld) - The Prime Minister has highlighted the Vietnam Bar Association’s role in uniting lawyers’ community to ensure a nation governed by law, and protect the country’s sovereignty and its citizens’ rights.  At a meeting with the Association in Hanoi on Thursday, PM Nguyen Tan Dung asked it to strengthen ties with lawyers’ federations around the world to gain more support for Vietnam’s views on its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Prime Minister Dung says ‘The association has fought to ensure justice, people’s legitimate rights, and has contributed to developing the country’s socialist democracy. The nation is governed by a socialism where power belongs to the people. The Association should protect human rights, citizens’ rights, and help the international community understand the advances Vietnam has made on human rights. It should also argue against distortions about the Vietnamese nation’.
