(VOVworld) – A delegation of Vietnam’s Government Committee for Religious Affairs led by its Executive Vice Chairman Bui Thanh Ha discussed with US religious dignitaries Vietnam’s religious situation, achievements, and policies. The delegation, including Buddhist, Caodaist, and Christian representatives, informed the US representatives about the diversity of Vietnamese religions.

Mr. Bui Thanh Ha answered questions about Vietnam’s religious beliefs: “We had discussions with US religious organizations as well as with the Commission on International Religious Freedom and US senators, and congressmen to help them understand Vietnam’s religious situation. Many US representatives were hearing about Vietnamese religions for the first time. I hope the Vietnamese representatives presented an accurate picture of Vietnamese religious issues”.
Bob Roberts, pastor of the Northwood Evangelical Church in the US, said: “I think that religions are good in Vietnam. I’m grateful that Vietnamese government is making rules for the people to practice their religions. Vietnam is a very spiritual country. I mean they worship their ancestors, Buddhism, and Christianity. All religions are in Vietnam. I think it is important to consider update laws, even in my country, we have to update our laws. You always need to update laws on religions. I like the draft Law on Religion. I think it is a good step and a right direction”.
