VCCS tasked with upholding philanthropy
(VOVworld) - The Vietnamese Committee for Catholic Solidarity (VCCS) on Wednesday hosted a conference in Ho Chi Minh city to review patriotic movements in 2012 and discuss tasks in 2013. The conference said over the past year, the Catholic community in Vietnam actively participated in economic development, poverty reduction and building new rural areas. VCCS strictly followed its guidelines and principles, encouraged Catholic followers to exercise their rights and obligations towards the Church and the country. Priest Nguyen Cong Dang, Chairman of the VCCS, said: “Over the past years, we have recorded remarkable successes, demonstrating that the direction we set is correct. By doing concrete job, we have gradually confirmed ourselves and brought big hopes for Vietnamese Catholics in the new era”.
The Committee defined its key tasks as upholding philanthropy and love, while reporting the Catholics’ aspirations to the Party, the State and the Fatherland Front.
