Vietnam- a reliable member of the Asian-African community
(VOVworld)- Vietnam is a reliable member of the Asian-African Community, said Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc while briefing reporters on the outcomes of President Truong Tan Sang’s participation at the Asian-African conference and the 60th anniversary of the Bangdung Conference in Indonesia.

Ngoc said as one of the founders of the Bangdung Conference in 1955, Vietnam pledged to join other ASEAN member states to promote peace, stability and prosperity in Southeast Asia. Vietnam attaches great importance to settling disputes in line with international law, and ensuring freedom, security and safety of navigation and aviation. At these events, Vietnam shared its initiatives and experience in promoting connectivity and development cooperation with African countries and South-South cooperation. Vietnam’s message “Strengthening Asia-Africa connectivity for world peace and prosperity in line with international law” was greatly appreciated by Asian and African friends. Vietnam contributed to drafting documents of the conference, especially those concerning East Sea and water resources.
On the sidelines of the conference, President Truong Tan Sang discussed with Heads of 25 delegations ways to strengthen bilateral ties, especially trade and investment cooperation. During these meetings, the leaders expressed hope to strengthen multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam.
Mr. Ngoc said the Bangdung conference adopted three documents including Bandung Message, the Declaration on Reinvigorating the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership (NAASP) and the Declaration on Palestine. The documents particularly emphasizes the UN’s role in maintaining peace and international security in compliance with Bangdung Principles of not using to threatening to use force and settling international disputes through peaceful means and the UN Charter. They stressed ASEAN’s role in preventing and settling regional disputes, especially the East Sea issue.
