Vietnam aims for a safe, sustainable electronics industry
(VOV) - An international workshop on managing electronics waste management opened in Hanoi on Monday with the participation of experts from Japan, Brazil, Malaysia, Canada, Argentina, and the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA).
The information and technology sector in Vietnam has recorded significant advances in recent years. In 2012, the IT sector earned a total revenue of 25.5 billion USD, of which 20 billion USD came from exports.
The Prime Minister signed a decision in August, 2013 regarding the obligations and rights to retrieval and disposal of discarded products in order to develop a safe and sustainable electronic industry in Vietnam. During the workshop, participants discussed the management of electronics waste in their countries to find the best practices for the management and processing of electronic waste worldwide.
