Vietnam announces new diagnosis, treatment guidelines for Covid-19

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam's Ministry of Health has issued new diagnosis and treatment guidelines for COVID-19.

The guidelines stress the importance of closely monitoring patients, especially from the 7th to the 10th day of the disease, to detect and respond to the disease. For patients with severe respiratory distress, intubation and mechanical ventilation should be used early. Specific non-invasive respiratory support measures should be considered for each case.

A patient will be discharged from hospital if their fever goes away for at least three days, clinical symptoms improve, vital signs are stable, blood tests are normal, and chest X-rays improve. In particular, they must test negative for coronavirus at least twice within 24 hours. After leaving the hospital, the patient will continue to be quarantined at home for 14 days and have their body temperature taken twice a day.
