Vietnam – Laos Youth Exchange program kicks off
(VOVworld) - 60 representatives from Vietnamese young people’s organizations have arrived in the Laos province of Bolikhamxay to begin a week-long exchange program with Khammoune, Salavan and Savannakhet provinces.
The delegation, led by Phan Van Mai, the Standing Secretary of Ho Chi Minh city’s Youth Union, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Vietnam-Laos border youth friendship village, financed by the Vietnamese government. When speaking at the event, Mai reviewed the traditional unity between the two countries and praised the contributions made by Youth Unions in strengthening bilateral friendship. The delegates will visit the monument to Ho Chi Minh, the economic special zone in Savanseno as well as opening an IT center to generate jobs for young people.
This event is just one of the numerous activities being held to celebrate the 2012 Vietnam-Laos Year of Friendship.
