Vietnam responds to Earth Hour

(VOVworld)- 63 cities and provinces across Vietnam have been responding to the Earth Hour campaign with a number of activities to promote energy saving and environmental protection. With this year’s message “Action for Greener Earth”, the Earth Hour campaign has been in Vietnam for 6 years and 8 years globally. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, “Turning off the lights” program in response to the Earth Hour Campaign will be broadcast live on TV. In Hanoi, a cycling movement was launched. Several people also joined efforts to clean streets and parks. In Ho Chi Minh city, more than 1,000 volunteers joined a flashmob dance called “Green Dances”. They also opened shops to exchange energy saving bulbs for recycled materials. More than 60 posters on energy saving drawn by pupils in the city were also displayed. Chu Thi Hong Tram is a student from Radio and TV College of VOV visited the exhibition: “I think the pupils are very talented. Their paintings are beautiful and meaningful. They drew energy saving bulbs and high rise buildings. I really admire them”.
Students at the Nghe An Economic University are actively responding to the Earth Hour. Nguyen Thanh Hien is one of them: “My classmates and I have prepared candles and posters to participate in a marching along the streets to respond to the Earth Hour Campaign. We hope to help raise the public’s awareness about energy saving”
