(VOVworld) – This year’s World AIDS Day themes ‘Getting to Zero’ aiming to achieve a generation where no one dies of AIDS, no one newly acquires HIV, and the rights of all people living with or affected by HIV are upheld.

Various activities have been undergone in Vietnam in response to the Day. A meeting was held in Hanoi on Saturday responding the National Action Month on HIV-AIDS Prevention and Control entitled “Towards No New HIV Infections”. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc addressed the event calling on  people from all walks of life to further raise awareness and encourage them to join in preventing HIV/AIDS prevalence. Phuc said ‘It’s necessary to launch more movements to involve the participation of the entire community and the political system in the fight against HIV/AIDS. HIV carriers and those of high risk should be provided with conditions to access preventive measures and treatment and support services to minimize infection risks in the community. ’

On Friday, nearly 3,000 people attended an art performance in Hanoi focusing on discrimination against HIV/AIDS carriers.
