Vietnam wins first Olympic gold medal in history
(VOVworld) - Hoang Xuan Vinh has made history when secured Vietnam's first Olympic gold medal in on Saturday, winning the men's 10-metre air pistol event.
With 202.5 points in 20 shots Vinh won the gold medal and set a new Olympic record. Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien has sent a congratulation letter to Vietnamese athletes and shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh.
Vinh’s record has been widely praised by the world press. Xinhua net also reported on Vinh’s achievement and CNN congratulated Vinh on Twitter.
