Vietnamese around the world celebrate Tet
(VOVworld) The Vietnamese embassy in France organized a Tet celebration in Paris with the participation of many international friends, Vietnamese living in France and embassy staff. Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung highlighted Vietnam's major achievements in the past year and applauded the important contributions made by the French Vietnamese community through many activities aimed at helping the homeland. “Tet is one of the most sacred celebration of the Vietnamese people. I am confident that with the patriotic tradition, Vietnamese people living overseas will continue to contribute to developing Vietnam into a strong and prosperous country,” Dung said.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan held a ceremony to welcome the Lunar New Year of Vietnam. More than 300 guests from Japanese political circles, organizations and businesses, along with members of the overseas Vietnamese community in Japan, attended the reception.

A gathering to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year festival (Tet) took place at the Vietnamese embassy in Russia. Ambassador Pham Xuan Son conveyed his best New Year wishes to the Vietnamese community in the country, saying that the embassy fulfilled its tasks in 2011 as a positive contribution to enhancing comprehensive cooperation between Russia and Vietnam in 2011. He praised the Vietnamese community in Russia for overcoming many difficulties to settle well, boost production and build a strong and united community.
In Canberra, Vietnamese ambassador to Australia Hoang Vinh Thanh called on the Vietnamese living in the country to join in practical activities to preserve and honor the authentic Vietnamese culture imbued with the national identity.
Similar receptions were held in Wellington, New Zealand and Rome, Italy to celebrate the traditional lunar new year for the Vietnamese community living in these countries.
