Vietnamese celebrate Lunar New Year abroad
(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese community all over the world is jubilantly celebrating the Lunar New Year festival. Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia on Saturday evening hosted a reception, where Ambassador Nguyen Xuan Thuy reviewed Vietnamese achievements in 2012 and informed of the government’s targets for 2013. He expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community there will continue to help building a better Vietnam.
At Saturday’s get-together hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia, Ambassador Mai Phuong Dung stressed the importance of Overseas Vietnamese’s contributions to national development. He valued their donations to the Fund for Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago’s Students.
The Vietnamese community in Laos and Thailand’s Udon and Noongkhai provinces on Saturday met for Lunar New Year festival. Vu Xuan Chinh, President of Overseas Vietnamese Association in Udon province, said: “I wish that Overseas Vietnamese in all provinces and the world are united regardless of their age, gender, wealth, and religion. I hope that the Party and State pay more attention to the next generations of Overseas Vietnamese, who inherit our legacy to build Vietnam. I want the Vietnamese economy to growth further and our Party to thrive to lead the Vietnamese nation on the path chosen by Uncle Ho.”
The Vietnamese Embassies in Canada and Italy hosted programs to welcome in the Lunar New Year.
