(VOVworld) – A workshop on Vietnam’s export of agricultural products as Vietnam joins the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement (TPP) and the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) was held on Sunday.

The event held by the Keynesian Economic Research Organization of Foreign Trade University and drew the participation of representatives from ministries, sectors and enterprises. They participants agreed that in order to take advantage of opportunities brought by the TPP and AEC, it is essential to get involved enterprises in the agricultural sector to create a link between enterprises and farmers. Truong Dinh Tuyen, former Minister of Industry and Trade and government senior advisor in the negotiation of TPP agreement, said the agricultural sector needs to assure the product’s quality and enterprises should take a leading role to manage supply and demand and stabilize the prices. For key agricultural items such as rice, coffee and sea food, Vietnam needs to build its firm distribution channels in foreign markets and create their trademarks in the context of integration.
