Vietnam’s National Science-Technology Day launched
(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung attended and delivered a speech at a ceremony in Hanoi on Sunday to launch Vietnam’s National Science-Technology Day May 18th.

This special event is aimed at honoring outstanding scientists and scientific achievements and encouraging creativity among Vietnamese youth. Prime Minister Dung praised the contributions of science-technology to Vietnam’s revolution, construction, and development:“We are living in an era of globalization and international integration. Countries with high competitiveness will move forward to achieve rapid and sustainable growth. Competitions among nations are reflected in the quality of human resources and the level of science and technology. The resolution of the 6th party plenum on scientific and technological development said that the development and application of science and technology is a priority national policy and an important driving force for socio-economic development and national defense. Science-technology is the leverage for economic and growth model restructuring to improve productivity, quality and competitiveness to help Vietnam quickly become an industrialized nation.”
He said that in the era of globalization and international integration, science and technology should be developed to serve modernization and industrialization. It is crucial to work out and carry out scientific development programs in a number of Vietnam’s potential areas namely mathematics, physics, and sea sciences. Prime Minister Dung said that policies should be implemented to make the most of scientists and technologies by proving scientists with favorable conditions and incentives.
