At a recent workshop on potential solar photovoltaic projects in Vietnam, experts said solar energy is a great solution for Vietnam, who faces an energy shortage, natural disasters, and climate change.

The workshop was organized within the framework of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Project, jointly implemented by the Power and Renewable Energy Agency, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Experts say preliminary results were calculated using geographical information system software, applying different criteria such as solar radiation, land use, road and grid networks. The national assessment of solar energy’s development potential in Vietnam will inform investors and provide inputs to the government’s national solar development plan.
