After the deadly accident 12 years ago, Tuan was diagnosed with brain and cervical vertebrae injuries and just a three percent chance of pulling through. The movement of his entire body was paralysed from the shoulders down, thus, he couldn’t get out of bed and brush his teeth without help from his parents and sister. He had to suffer pain when draining the fluid from his neck every day.If not, he couldn’t breathe normally. Tuan’s father, Dang Van Loi, said it’s due to luck and Tuan’s will and beliefs that helped him through it. “There were some moments we even thought about giving up. But after five years of practice, Tuan gradually recovered and can sit in a wheelchair instead of just laying down in bed. He then asked me to buy him a laptop so he could work.”, Loi said.
“As lay paralysed, I thought about learning how to use a computer. Unfortunately, my fingers couldn’t move, so typing seemed to be an impossible task. At first, I typed a letter by tapping my wrist continuously on the keyboard. It took me 2 hours to type a simple word. I realized there and then that I can do anything if only I believe that I can. I’ve now mastered some recording software and movie editing software. Through Facebook, I got more friends as well as an opportunity for a job.”, Tuan again.
