In addition to providing information in the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, the Law on Fisheries, and the Law on Environmental Protection, fishermen were briefed on the Prime Minister's directives on a number of ways to implement the European Commission's recommendations to fight illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.

Fishermen were told about prohibited acts when harvesting seafood, penalties for violations in the fisheries sector, and cases in which fishermen violate Vietnamese law, international law, or the law of another country.

Legal communications and dissemination is a regular activity by Naval Zone 5 to give fishermen a basic understanding of the law and encourage them to comply with all regulations.
