They have disseminated information about maritime laws and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and presented 200 gifts, medical treatment and medicines to social beneficiaries and disadvantaged fishermen in Ly Son. The Vietnam Coast Guard has also joined authorities and social organizations in Ly Son to clean the sea environment.
Major General Bùi Quốc Oai, Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard, says: "The program aims to help fishermen better aware of maritime law and comply with law when fishing at sea. We hope to encourage them to cooperate with the Vietnam Coast Guard and other relevant agencies to defend national maritime sovereignty."
