(VOVworld) - The ongoing 12^th National Party Congress had a plenary session under the chair of Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung. Opening the discussion, Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan delivered a speech on promoting the strength of the nation in order to help successfully realise socio-economic development targets and participate in building a pure, strong Party and administration. He listed tasks to promote the strength of the national great unity in socio-economic development.

On behalf of the Vietnam People’s Army’s Party Organization, General Ngo Xuan Lich, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and member of the Central Military Commission’s standing committee, said that the People’s Army will continue intensifying its core role in national defense and protecting the homeland: “Given complex developments and new requirements in the mission to protect the nation, fostering national defense and building a revolutionary people’s army of elite and gradually modern is a vital mission. It will help foster the nation’s potential and combined strength and serve as a foundation to firmly defend the socialist Vietnam.”

Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh delivered a speech about institutional reform towards Vietnam’s prosperity, innovation, and equality. He emphasized on the significance of the connectivity between economic prosperity and environmental sustainability, social equality and state competency and accountability.
