(VOVworld) - Radio Voice of Vietnam, the State Bank and Quang Ngai provincial people’s committee held an art program to promote fishermen’s offshore fishing.


Representatives of the marine surveillance and cost guard forces as well as outstanding fishermen had a discussion on Vietnamese law enforcement’s determination to protest against China’s illegal placement of an oil rig in Vietnam’s waters recently and uphold fishermen’s will to continue their offshore fishing.


On this occasion, the State Bank offered 5 billion dong to support Quang Ngai fishermen, and 100 million dong to 10 needy marine surveillance and coast guard staff families. Voice of Vietnam Director General Nguyen Dang Tien said the program is meaningful to local fishermen: “Voice of Vietnam as a national broadcaster commits to communicate Party guidelines and State policies to fishermen on its 4 channels of media, including TV, radio, printed and online newspapers. Fishermen will be supported in their career for income generation and national sovereignty confirmation.”
