(VOVworld) – Radio Asia 2013, hosted by Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), will take place in Hanoi from July 29-31. Regarding this important event, VOV’s General Director Nguyen Dang Tien said the agency has been a full member of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) since 1964 and has made active contributions to the Union’s activities. Hosting this year’s event will be an opportunity to raise the status of Vietnam’s broadcasting industry within the region. Tien said: “The event, themed “Radio and Social Media: Where to Next?”, is of great significance, not only for VOV, but also for the broadcasting industry in the region and the world. During the event, broadcasting managers will share their experience and views on future trends of the broadcasting sector, which is predicted to face new challenges as it seeks to modernize and meet increasing demands from the public.”
High on the agenda will be the broadcasting industry’s future challenges in the context of a boom in Internet and social networks. Tien shared VOV’s experience in tackling the challenges: “VOV has applied Internet services to provide its audience with radio and television programs on our official website, vov.vn. Early this year, VOV launched radiovietnam.vn, which bundles radio programs of 63 provinces and cities nationwide. In the future, VOV will organize a copyrighted radio broadcast program to present the English Premier League on radio and online media services.”
VOV’s preparations for Radio Asia 2013 are now complete. Tien believes participants will be happy with VOV’s preparatory work.
