(VOVworld) – A song writing contest has been launched to welcome the 132^nd Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly (132^nd IPU) to be held in Hanoi next year.

This was announced at a press conference held by the Voice of Vietnam and the Sub-Committee on Information and Communication of the 132^nd IPU General Assembly. The songs’ lyrics are about peace, security, cooperation, humanity and friendship between countries and parliaments. It also aims to promote the image of Vietnam’s land, culture and people to the world. Tran Nhat Duong, deputy head of VOV’s Channel of Music, Information and Entertainment, said: "This is the first time Vietnam has hosted this event and the Voice of Vietnam has the honor to be on the organizing board. This is a significant event and is a chance to introduce Vietnam’s people and music to the world". 

The award ceremony for the 132^nd IPU song writing contest is scheduled to be held next March.
