The traditional relationship between Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and Lao National Radio (LNR) has been strengthened and developed. VOV President Nguyen Dang Tien made the statement at a reception for a delegation from the Propaganda and Training Department of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) led by its head, Chueang Sombounkhan.
VOV President Tien said the ties between the two radio stations have been established through agreements on radio broadcasting in 1990, 1994, 2000, 2005, and 2008
The two national radio stations exchange four or five visits a year to share experience, as well as documents and programmes to introduce the land, people and socio-economic achievements of their countries.
VOV sent its technicians to survey and implement a project to strengthen the quality of FM broadcast coverage in Luong NamTha province, in 2007 and 2008. It also started building a radio and television station in Luang Prabang province in 2008 and handed it over to Laos in March 2011.
In return, LNR and other relevant Lao ministries helped VOV open its bureau in Vientiane in 2010.
VOV President expresses appreciation for bilateral co-operation with Lao National Radio
Tien emphasized that cooperation between VOV and LNR has helped foster mutual understanding between the two peoples. Their exchange and technical assistance programmes have proved effective. Notably, he said the two radio stations have worked closely together toward modernizing their broadcasting technology.
They should devise new modes of cooperation to effectively implement signed agreements on broadcasting, said Tien.
Sombounkhan expresses his hope that LNR will continue to receive support from VOV.
On the occasion, Sombounkhan praised VOV’s achievements in Vietnam’s past struggle for national independence and ongoing renewal process, saying that VOV has actively contributed to national development and integration and has made enormous strides in modernizing the broadcasting industry.
