At a press briefing in Hanoi on Thursday, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice Chairman of the APEC 2017 National Committee Bui Thanh Son said, the event themed “Creating New Dynamism, Fostering A Shared Future” will take place in Da Nang from November 6-11. The event will bring together around 10,000 delegates from 21 APEC member economies and many leaders will deliver keynote speeches at main activities during the week. On the sidelines of the event, there will be many bilateral meetings between Vietnamese and APEC leaders which aim to enhance bilateral relations as well as cooperation within APEC. Chinese, US, Canadian, and Chilean leaders will make state visits to Vietnam. Hosting APEC Year 2017, Vietnam aims to boost development and cooperation within APEC and ensure APEC’s leading role in the region. The event will also be an opportunity for leaders of APEC member economies to strengthen cooperation and trust and an opportunity for Vietnam to improve its prestige. Mr. Son said: “This is the second time that Vietnam host APEC Year. This event will be an opportunity for Vietnam to boost its relations with APEC members, particularly with its 13 strategic and comprehensive partners within APEC. At this event, Vietnam reaffirms its foreign policy of diversification, multi-lateralization, and active participation in multilateral activities.”

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and Head of the APEC Sub-Committee for Culture Communication Huynh Vinh Ai said President Tran Dai Quang will send made-in-Vietnam bamboo trays as gifts to leaders of the 21 APEC member economies.
