(VOVworld)- In his closing speech at the 12th National Party Congress, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said the Congress’s success encourages the entire Party, the people and the army to overcome difficulties and develop Vietnam into a modern industrial country. The outcomes of the Congress will pave the way for Vietnam to further boost national growth and move toward socialism.

Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said Congress delegates approved important documents, showed their determination to achieve set goals, and completed the personnel work.
Major policies, orientations approved
The Party Chief said that in eight days of working in the spirit of “Solidarity – Democracy – Discipline – Renovation”, and with a high sense of responsibility, the Congress completed all agenda items as planned. Delegates discussed in a candid and democratic manner and unanimously passed, important documents, including the Political Report and a report evaluating the implementation of socio-economic tasks between 2011 and 2015 and orientations and tasks for 2016-2020. They also approved a report reviewing the leadership of the 11th Party Central Committee, a report on the execution of the Party statutes in the 11th tenure, and a document summing up the implementation of the 11th Central Committee’s Resolution on urgent issues in Party-building. Trong said: “The documents were based on a review of the theories and practices of 30 years of renovation, 5 years of implementing the Platform on national construction in the transitional period toward socialism, the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy, and 2 years of implementing the 2013 Constitution as well as on the wisdom and aspirations of the Party, the people and the army. The documents reflect the Party’s renewal guidelines which creatively apply Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh’s Thought, and international experience. The documents define Vietnam’s national construction and defense goals and tasks in the new development period with mixed opportunities and challenges”.
Determined to achieve set goals
The Party chief said the Congress showed that the Vietnamese Party, people and army are determined to build of a pure, strong Party, strengthen the political system, mobilize the strength of the entire nation as a socialist democracy, step up reforms, boost economic growth, turn Vietnam into a modern industrialized country, improve people’s lives, safeguard national independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, protect the Party, the State, the people and the socialist regime, maintain a peaceful and stable environment, accelerate international integration, and improve Vietnam’s prestige in the region and the world. Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said: “The Congress showed a determination to strengthen the Party and its political stance, develop a transparent and strong Party, and enhance the public’s faith in the Party. The Congress stressed the importance of enhancing unity within the Party and bolstering the close bond between the Party and the public”.
12th Party Central Committee elected
The Party leader said that in a serious manner and in accordance with Party regulations, the Congress elected a 200-member Party Central Committee, including 180 official members and 20 alternates. He said the committee is acutely aware of its great responsibility to the Party, the people and the country. On behalf of the committee, the General Secretary pledged to fulfill all tasks, leading the country to overcome all difficulties and challenges to its future development.
Calling for unity within the Party and achievement of the Congress’ resolution
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said the Congress’s success encourages the entire Party, the people and the army to overcome difficulties and develop Vietnam into a modern industrial country: “After the Congress, all Party Committees and organizations need to disseminate the Congress’s outcomes, documents and resolutions among the Party, the army and the people who will then develop their own plans of actions. Widespread emulation movements are needed to realize the Party resolutions. The Congress called upon the whole Party, people and army as well as Vietnamese expatriates to uphold patriotism, self-reliance, and great national unity to realize the Congress’s Resolution and pave the way for national development and moving toward socialism”.
