Activities marking Workers’ Month are underway throughout Vietnam

During May, the Workers’ Month, trade unions are organizing dialogues with workers, forums between workers and businesses, and activities to honor workers, strengthen trade union organizations and encourage trade union members to join the Party.

Hai Phong city hosted a program to honor outstanding, creative workers, presented awards for the contest “Technical creativity”, and held a dialogue with workers.  Activities to protect workers’ legitimate rights and interests have been organized, including discount and promotional programs and aid packages for disadvantaged workers.

Tran Thi Thu Huong works for Yazaki Company, Ltd. in the Japan-Hai Phong Industrial Park. Huong says: "I’m very happy to participate in activities organized by the trade union during the Workers’ Month. We received discount vouchers which will ease the difficulties in our life. The Industrial Park Trade Union always pays attention to workers’ lives. Their care has encouraged us and motivated us to work harder and engage more with the company."

During Workers’ Month, the HCM City Labor Federation will present more than 1.2 million USD worth of gifts to disadvantaged workers with outstanding working performance.

Tran Doan Trung, Permanent Vice President of the HCM City Labor Federation, said: "We pay special attention to disadvantaged workers, especially in the current context, when many businesses face difficulties. We have promoted activities to honor outstanding workers who are dedicated to the enterprise’s development and have organized other activities with employers."

In addition to activities to mark Workers’ Month, other activities are underway in response to the Action Month of Labor Safety and Health with the theme “Promoting safe working protocols, improving working conditions, and reducing tension in work places.”
