NA meeting: urgent, positive, effective vibe

(VOVWORLD) - The 8th session of the 15th National Assembly finished its 1st phase meeting on Wednesday, during which the deputies completed personnel work, held a Q&A session, discussed socio-economic issues, and ratified a Resolution on socio-economic development in 2025.

This crucial session is tasked with institutionalizing the Conclusions of the 10th Plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee, heading to 2025 with the highest resolve to achieve the goals set out at the 13th National Party Congress. From October 21st to November 13, the National Assembly deputies decided many major issues with an innovative mindset.

Significant accomplishments

The 440 National Assembly deputies voted unanimously to elect Luong Cuong as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 tenure.

The National Assembly's decision met the expectations of people nationwide, demonstrating the strong consensus of the National Assembly and the responsibility of each deputy to Vietnam and its people.

Tran Hoang Ngan, National Assembly deputy for Ho Chi Minh City, said: “Party General Secretary To Lam delivered a keynote speech that spread positive energy to the National Assembly deputies. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man’s presentation expressed the National Assembly's spirit of being ready to work with the Government and National Assembly Committees day and night to accomplish the agenda of this session.”

At the 1st phase of the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly, deputies also discussed the implementation of the 2024 socio-economic development plan and state budget and debated  multiple draft laws.

Nguyen Thi Suu, a deputy for Thua Thien-Hue province, said: “The workload is heavy. The National Assembly deputies have actively engaged in discussions and contributed their ideas to legal documents and issues.”

The National Assembly spent much of the time discussing ways to stabilize the macro-economy and major balances of the economy, control inflation, exchange rates, and essential goods, improve the monetary market, restore production and trade, generate jobs, and remove institutional bottlenecks.

The deputies pointed out shortcomings, limitations, and challenges so that the Government can work out prompt directions to realize Vietnam’s growth target and socio-economic goals for 2024.

The National Assembly passed a Resolution on the socio-economic development plan for 2025 and a Resolution on the State budget estimate for 2025, and discussed the investment plan for the North-South high-speed railway project, which is scheduled to be approved at the end of this session.

Pratical, effective Q&A session

During a 2-day Q&A session, the National Assembly deputies posed questions to the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, the Minister of Health, and the Minister of Information and Communications.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said: “The cabinet members have accepted the recommendations and pledged to implement them responsibly. The Ministers and heads of sectors always show seriousness, openness, and effort in carrying out their duties. The Q&A session was successful with strong commitments.”

The accomplishments of the 1st phase of the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly show that the National Assembly is working with the Government, agencies, and organizations to solve problems, meet challenges, and achieve the socio-economic development goals for 2025 and beyond.
