The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism is a cultural center shared by Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups. 13 ethnic groups have sent individuals to live in the village.
This year hundreds of ethnic artisans and performers from across Vietnam will participate in performances at the village. The Village’s Director Nguyen Thanh Son said: “This year we’ll recreate the Aza Festival of the Ta Oi in Thua Thien-Hue province, the Fire Jump Festival of the Dao in Thai Nguyen province, and the folk games of many other ethnic groups. We have brought beautiful peach and plum trees to entertain all the Vietnamese and foreign visitors who are coming here to share the joy of our spring celebration.”
Phap An pagoda, Cham Tower, and Khmer pagoda in the village attract many visitors at this time of year. The newly-inaugurated buckwheat flower farm is another popular spot for taking photos. Mr. Son again: “The ritual and festive activities of ethnic groups express wishes for a better year, a farewell to bad luck, and a welcoming of all good things. Each group expresses these wishes a little differently, and all of them are very happy to show visitors their traditional cultural identity.”
